Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup fresh cranberries or thawed frozen cranberries
  • 1 teaspoon honey adjust to taste
  • 4 oz fresh orange juice preferably freshly squeezed
  • 4 oz sparkling wine chilled, such as Champagne or prosecco
  • 1 oz orange liqueur like Cointreau or Grand Marnier
  • extra garnishes cranberries, orange peel, mint sprigs

Equipment

  • Muddler
  • Wine glasses or coupes
  • Measuring jigger
  • Spoon or stirrer
  • Chill tray or freezer

Method

  1. Chill your glasses in the freezer for at least 10 minutes to keep the drinks cold and refreshing.
  2. Place the cranberries in a small bowl and add a teaspoon of honey. Gently muddle the berries with a muddler or the back of a spoon until they release their juice and are slightly crushed, creating a vibrant red mash.
  3. Divide the muddled cranberry mixture evenly among the chilled glasses, letting the bright red juice settle at the bottom.
  4. Pour 2 ounces of fresh orange juice into each glass over the cranberry mash, adding a fresh citrus aroma and balancing the tartness.
  5. Next, add 1 ounce of orange liqueur to each glass to deepen the citrus flavor and add a touch of sweetness.
  6. Slowly top each glass with about 4 to 6 ounces of chilled sparkling wine, pouring gently to preserve the bubbles and create a lively fizz.
  7. Gently stir the drink with a spoon or stirrer to combine the flavors without losing the bubbles, watching as the drink shimmers and froths slightly at the top.
  8. Garnish each glass with a few fresh cranberries, a twist of orange peel, or a sprig of mint to add visual appeal and aromatic notes.
  9. Serve immediately to enjoy the crisp, bubbly texture and the bright burst of cranberry flavor, perfect for festive occasions or a relaxing weekend.
